WHY I CHANGED MY STYLE

When it comes to my life, I always deal well with change. I'm not attached to places, to things and obviously not attached to my hair. I love changing my style and my look, because let's face it, we don't always like the same thing, we change and grow and with that so should the way we present ourselves. My changing style and also the growth in Felix and Scott, is the reason behind why I relaunched felixandscott.com just last week. I needed a site that you could all enjoy just as much as I enjoy creating it. I wanted it to be extremely simple, laid-back and easy to navigate, incorporating a few new categories of travel, lifestyle and food which is coming very soon.

When it comes to my style, I moved to Melbourne a month ago, and that completely changed how I dress. Melbourne is a sea of black, and for me that gives me the opportunity to steer clear of darker colours and wear light and bright shades to stand out. One thing I have learnt from Melbournians is layering and how to layer the right way, by sticking to similar shades and matching pieces (view my guide to layering here).

The obvious change, when I moved, was my hairstyle. I was at an in between stage, from growing out the pixie chop, into an Bingle bob, and then I kind of got in a style rut, not knowing whether to grow it out or chop it off. I spent so much time pinning and saving images of hairstyles, and in the end I decided to grow it out a couple more inches, and try a fringe. My hair in general is quite fine, but there is a lot of it, so textured styles work well without having to cut into it to create layers. I wanted to be able to leave the house quickly and not have to spend hours styling a really blunt cut, so I took inspiration from a Karlie Kloss magazine cover and created a shaggy grown out bob with a blunt 70's fringe which depending on my look, can either be super sleek or curled. This new grown out look with bangs, changes the way I wear clothes and makes me feel like a different person. It takes this baby pink Interval power suit, to a different dimension and makes it look a lot more laid-back and understated instead of being overdone.

If you're looking to change your style then start with your hair, it will overhaul your look and change the way you wear clothes, making everything fresh and new again. You definitely don't have to go drastic, but a change in colour, a difference in length is always enough just to give you a boost.
