SOFITEL GIRLS DAY OUT
Spring Racing Carnival is just around the corner, and I kicked off the season with the Sofitel's Girl Day Out. You all loved my outfit on my other socials so I've linked everything below for you to shop or hire. Yes I said hire! My Nicholas Dress and Olga Berg clutch are both from the amazing girls at Her Wardrobe, and can be hired out for any event for a fraction of the price. Wear it over the weekend, then pop it in the express post bag and send it bag Monday morning.
When it comes to hair and make up for the races or any event, I've teamed up with Sara Jade Hair and Beauty Salon to show you how to get ready.
When it comes to Spring Racing, we all know headpieces are key, so one tip to follow is, the higher the headpiece, the lower your hair needs to be. Sara created volume in my hair through the back with tight curls using the GHD Platinum, and a little teasing with Kevin Murphys Powder Puff, but once set, it was pulled back and pinned in place, so that all the volume is at the back, and not competing with the headpiece.
With makeup, you can play around with your look and experiment with looks you wouldn't normally do. I went for a winged eyeliner with an orange eye, to contrast just enough with the dress to be playful and fun. A great tip I learnt is to do your eye makeup, before applying foundation, and then once done, blend a touch of shadow on your lower lash line, just to soften the eye. I teamed up with Sara Jade Hair and Beauty Salon and Napoleon Perdis to take you step by step through this beauty look.
For our base, we used Napoleon Perdis Supreme Eye Cream, Skin Elixir Serum, Auto Pilot Moisture Mist and Auto Pilot Primer to add hydration and SPF, to last the day and provide a smooth base for makeup.
When it comes to foundation, a beauty blender should be your go-to for full coverage and a flawless base. Napoleon's Personal Trainer Serum Foundation provided medium coverage, in colour 2.5, which we warmed up with Matte Bronze to match my tan.
When it came to my eyes, we made them the focus of the look and blended the Colour Disk in Tequila Sunrise into the crease and waterline, a warm brown from the Eyes, Cheeks, Brows Palettes into the socket and a deeper brown from the same palette on outer corner of my eye. For the wing, we used Matte Eye Ink, which we swept up towards the outer edges of my eyebrows to create the perfect wing. Finish off the eyes with two layers of Peepshow Madame Volumising Mascara.
Make sure to fill in your brows and set with a gel, add a touch of highlighter to the high points of your face and spritz with a finishing spray to set the look.
