A QUICK STAY IN QUEENSTOWN
With a couple days off, we decided to visit Queenstown for something a little different. Being only a 3 hour flight, it is a destination that is incredibly easy for us Australians to visit, and is well worth it. The beauty of the landscape, even when you fly into the airport, is breathtaking, no matter the weather.
We checked into The Spire Hotel, a beautiful boutique hotel right in the centre of town, which was perfect for exploring the nearby shops and restaurants, including our favourites Botswana Butchery and Fergburger, and The Spire’s Restaurant No.5 Church Street (read more here).
Checking in to The Spire, you’re welcomed a luxurious foyer with the most incredible piece of art on the wall, and when shown to your room, with the fire already running, you instantly feel at home and a sense of peace. It made it so easy to relax, being in such a gorgeous environment, with a huge bath tub which we all know I love, private balcony with mountain views and a fully stocked bar.
After a glass of wine by the fire each night, and the perfect breakfast at No.5 Church Lane, we spent our days exploring the nearby wineries like favourite Wet Jacket, and Cardrona Distillery, along with eating out at high end restaurants, and spending so much time just admiring the gorgeous landscape from every angle. On the day we arrived, the weather was perfect and the sun shone over the lake full of ducks, the days that followed, the snow was falling and just made the ski fields look stunning.
After two days of exploring Queenstown, we fell in love with the landscape, the food and of course the The Spire Hotel where we stayed, we’ll be booking our next trip back for the ski season next year.
