THE MARCS CAPSULE COLLECTION
When it comes to an iconic Australian brand, you can’t look past Marcs. Celebrating 40 years, the Marcs new arrivals are ready to be added to your wardrobe as a capsule collection. When purchasing my own pieces, I always look for pieces that will fit into my existing wardrobe and be able to last the test of time, and bypass trends. I was incredibly grateful to receive some new looks from the Marcs latest arrivals and wanted to share my favourites, and how with eight pieces, you can create an entire wardrobe for the season.
When it comes to a capsule autumn wardrobe, you really don’t need many pieces at all, just a few that will take from summer to autumn, and other pieces that will take you from autumn to winter. I always like to start with the basics, a black short skirt, and a longer more work appropriate skirt. To ensure your pieces last throughout seasons, it’s good to invest in textures and fabrics, in this case, a leather mini and a pleated sheer midi skirt, are perfect. They cover all bases from casual to chic, from work to after work drinks, and can be mixed and match with just about everything in your wardrobe. I love to pick two tops for the season, one shirt, which I steer clear of white as a darker colour will refrain from staining and last longer, and a knit top as well, bonus points when you can style them together and layer for the cooler months. Play around with buttoning, knotting and tucking to create a different look for the shirt.
A great pair of pants are a must have which can you wear with either top, I tend to go for black, just because they are the most versatile out of all shades. A jacket which this season I invested in a fabric which has flecks of colour in it, to create a point of difference in my outfits. I love this tween/woven fabric, it’s light enough to wear over a short sleeve or cami for the warmer days, and thick enough to be worn over a shirt or knit, and zipped up, that I have actually worn it in the snow in Italy and stayed warm.
Because the jacket has colour in it, I selected two dresses which pick up on the colours from the jacket and make my looks more fun. Both dresses are a great cut, which are perfect for workwear or a casual weekend lunch, or with strappy heels and a bold lip, you’re ready for a dinner date.
I hope this proves, you really don’t need much for in-between seasons and you can really take pieces you already own that are similar, to give you a wardrobe that will last throughout the year.
