HOW TO WEAR FLORALS FOR AUTUMN
‘Florals for spring, groundbreaking.’
It may be spring for the rest of the world, but in Australia it is the start of Autumn, whether it feels like it or not.
If you’re like me and love floral, you’ll be glad to know it is not just for spring or summer, but can be worn well into autumn and winter. Keep reading, to find out how to take this spring floral, through the cooler months.
SELECT FLORALS THAT WILL GO THE DISTANCE
It’s all about the type of floral. For AW select a floral that is either monochrome, like the one I’m wearing, or a darker floral. If you go for something monochrome you will be able to pair it with more, like brighter coloured accessories in the warmer months and darker accessories in the cooler months, making it more versatile and also more wearable. If you select a darker floral, it can be more moody for winter, think stockings, boots and faux fur coats, to really give a nomadic boho look.
SHOES FOR THE OCCASSION
Working with florals can be intimidating, but it also extremely fun. Pair your dress with neutral shoes like the ones I’m wearing to keep it modern and fresh, but stick to burgundy, pink and darker neutrals to be suitable for the cooler months. The other look I love is clashing prints and animal print is perfect for this. Snakeskin is perfect for any season as it is versatile in the way that it shows various shades and colours to be drawn on with your other accessories, whilst still remaining quite neutral in beige, grey and khaki.
One of Australia’s most recognised brands, Thurley is back for VAMFF this year and hitting the ground running, with three shows. I recently attended the latest viewing of the new season collection and is every bit as stunning as other collections, with a more refined sense to really fit the Australian relaxed style.
